Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai recently paid a working visit to Kerala state in southern India.

Chief Minister of Kerala State Pinarayi Vijayan receives Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai.

Within the framework of the working visit, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister of Kerala state Pinarayi Vijayan, and worked with Secretary General V. Venu and secretaries in charge of agriculture, fisheries, tourism, electronics and information technology of the state.

Happy to inform the Chief Minister and leaders of the state that from August 12, 2023, Vietjet Air will open a direct route from Kochi city of Kerela state to Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of four flights per week, Ambassador Hai said that this is a breakthrough, contributing to further strengthening the cooperation between Kerela state and Vietnam.

Welcoming the new and important development in aviation connectivity between the two countries, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with localities of Vietnam, especially in delegation exchange and cooperation activities in fields of agriculture, fisheries, tourism, information technology, start-ups, and education.

He also discussed with Secretary General V. Venu and secretaries about measures to promote specific cooperation in various fields.

On this occasion, the Ambassador visited Trivandrum Technology Park and discussed potentials and opportunities for cooperation. Currently, a number of companies from this park are collaborating with Vietnamese companies to provide technology solutions in a number of areas, including electric vehicles.

In addition, many companies in the park have continued to receive Vietnamese students for internships.

The Ambassador also attended an event promoting the Vietnamese destination for study abroad for Indian medical students in Thiruvananthapuram city, the capital of Kerala state. This is a potential field in cooperation between Vietnam and Kerala in particular and India in general.

In 2022, more than 100 Indian students came to study at medical universities in Vietnam. In 2023 and the coming years, this number will increase many times, especially when there are more and more direct flights between the two countries.

In a move to prepare for a new wave of tourists when the Kochi-Ho Chi Minh City direct flight is put into operation from next August, the Vietnamese Embassy in India has coordinated with Vietjet Air to organize a program to promote and connect Kerala-Vietnam tourism in Kochi city, the financial center of the state.

Kerala is the southernmost state in India with an economy of nearly 131.5 billion USD and a growth rate of 10.8% in fiscal year 2022./.
