Vietnam greets over 3.8 million foreign tourists in 2020
Generally, foreigner arrivals to the country in 2020 reached an estimated more than 3.83 million, a year-on-year decrease of 78.7%.
The number of tourists to Vietnam from all continents saw reductions; those of all types like air, road and waterway arrivals also decreased.
Of this, arrivals by air reached nearly 3.1 million, accounting for 80.3% of the total, down 78.6%; by road, 609,400 arrivals, accounting for 15.9%, down 81.9%; and by sea, 144,700 arrivals, accounting for 3.8%, down 45.2%.
Visitors from Asia numbered more than 2.81 million, accounting for 73.3% of the total, down 80.4% against last year; visitors from Europe reached 671,900, down 69%; visitors from the Americas were 236,500, down 75.7%; visitors from Australia hit 102,800 arrivals, down 76.2%; and arrivals from Africa were 12,500, down 73.9%.
In general, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has been complicated in the world but has been well controlled domestically, so trade and consumer services still achieved high growth in the last months of the year.
