China promotes welcoming Vietnamese tourist to Zhangjiajie

On March 20, Zhangjiajie city (Hunan, China) and the Consul General of China organized a tourism promotion meeting in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce and promote tourism to local people.

The event was attended by 50 tourism businesses of Vietnam and China.

According to tourism businesses, Zhangjiajie is a world-famous destination, with about 3000 exotic peaks and 800 poetic rivers. Some famous movies such as “Avatar” and “Journey to the West” were set here, making Zhangjiajie even more famous.

In addition, Phoenix Ancient Town (also in Hunan province), is a familiar destination for tourists. Before the COVID-19 epidemic, Zhangjiajie city - Phoenix Ancient Town tour was quite attractive for tourists to visit and have fun.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Wang Tao, Vice Chairman of the Zhangjiajie City People’s Committee, said that tourism is a bridge for strengthening cultural exchange and friendship between the two countries. Tourism cooperation is one of the important fields of cooperation between China and Vietnam, contributing to promoting bilateral relations.

Mr. Wang Tao expects that, after this promotion, there will be more two-way delegations to travel, reactivating the “smokeless industry” of Zhangjiajie in particular and China in general.

Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, emphasized that tourism contributes from 10 to 12% of the city’s GRDP. China has always been considered a key tourist market for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general. 

Statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism show that China is always among the top 3 international tourist markets to Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 1.2 million visitors in 2019.

In 2022, the Government of Vietnam set out policies to restore the economy, including the tourism industry. For Chinese tourists, since the beginning of 2023, Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed about 49,000 Chinese tourists./.
