According to Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh, Da Nang now controls the COVID-19 epidemic, ranking 8th out of 63 provinces and cities with the highest vaccination rate, with 95% of population over 18 years of age vaccinated with the 1st dose,  and 15% vaccinated with the 2nd dose.

Over the past 2 years, tourism activities of Da Nang City suffered heavily due to the epidemic, with 90% of tourism businesses having suspended operations and about 42,000 direct workers (equivalent to 80% of employees) in the tourism industry and hundreds of thousands of indirect workers being unemployed. The service-tourism sector, accounting for 64.3% of the city's economic structure, continuously declined.

According to the city authority’s proposal, Da Nang will welcome travellers in accordance with routes through 2 phases. In the first phase, from November 2021, the city will welcome international tourists and overseas Vietnamese travelling for commercial purposes, official duties, repatriation and visiting relatives; entering Da Nang in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s regulations on immigration and isolation.

International visitors can travel in accordance with self-contained tours or combos to Da Nang and Hoi An, with the focus on the Republic of Korea and Russia in the near future. Package combo tours can be a resort tour or a combination of golf and entertainment. The city expects to greet 15,000 - 20,000 visitors a month.

For the second phase, Da Nang continues to welcome tourists as the Government allows the resumption of international flight routes with epidemic prevention conditions as prescribed by the Government and the city.

If approved, the city People’s Committee will coordinate with ministries, central branches and relevant agencies, localities and related units to develop plans and procedures for measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic./.
