The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) has held an online ceremony to launch the program of resuming domestic tourism to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Pham Van Thuy said that after a long period of stagnation, the resumption of tourism activities is very significant for the business community, in order to gradually overcome difficulties and be in tune with the new normal state.

At the event, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Travel Association Phung Quang Thang said, with the theme of green connection to Vietnam’s tourism, the program aims to meet the need of recovering the country’s tourism industry with the focus on exploiting the domestic market flexibly, in an adaptive and effective manner in light of the actual developments of the epidemic, thereby finding ways to “live together” with COVID-19.
He said that it is necessary to develop safety criteria for the operation of tourism businesses in order to quickly restore tourism activities in the domestic market in the short term.
The program also sets out safety criteria to ensure both epidemic prevention and control and appropriate tourism business activities.
Specifically, tourists more than 18 years old who have had 2 doses of vaccine or have recovered from COVID-19 can travel domestically, depending on the epidemic level of the departure and destination, but will need to have negative PCR test or rapid test results within 48-72 hours.
Travellers under 18 years old need a negative PCR test result to travel to other provinces and cities. Travel businesses must also administer COVID-19 vaccines to 100% of their employees. Workers who often directly contact tourists such as guides, drivers, and car assistants must have necessary equipment.
“Building safety criteria at working positions in the chain of tourism services provided to tourists aims to ensure both epidemic prevention and control, and appropriate tourism business activities,” Thang emphasized./.
