Hoi An to expand pedestrian space

Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam will build three reception centers and also expand its pedestrian space to Phan Boi Chau street in order to reduce the pressure on the ancient town.

In addition, the city will develop specific tourism products on the basis of the cultural values of Hoi An to lure tourists, towards sustainable development.
According to the Hoi An city Culture and Information Office, since the ancient town was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage in 1999, Hoi An has developed very rapidly with the growth rate of about 15% a year.
Statistics showed that tourist arrivals to Hoi An increased twofold, from about 1.6 million in 2013 to 3.3 million in 2017, with the average growth rate of about 119%.
It greeted 4.55 million tourists in the first 9 months of 2018, a year-on-year rise of 76.84%./.
