Foreign tourist arrivals to Hanoi from the start of the year rose 25% over a year earlier, at over 2.86 million, reported the city Department of Tourism.
Of this, foreign arrivals staying overnight reached over 2.06 million, a year-on-year rise of 26%, while more than 13.57 million domestic tourists were provided services, up 6%; grossing a turnover of VND46 trillion, up 18% compared to the same period last year.
Potential markets of the city’s tourism saw sharp increases in tourist arrivals, such as India (up 46%), Denmark (50%), the Netherlands (40%) and Ireland (153%).
Three among five Western European countries which were granted visa waiver extensions under the Government’s Resolution 56/NQ-CP dated June 30th, 2016, still maintained two-digit growth rates: Italy (25%), France (21%) and Germany (33%).
Meanwhile, tourists from Spain and the UK continued to see declines compared to the same period last year./.
