During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy urged agencies and localities to overcome weaknesses at isolation locations; strictly inspect isolated people, especially flight crew members and flight attendants; strictly manage immigrated persons; be ready to stamp out the pandemic; and encourage the public to carry out preventive measures seriously.
He also asked the city Department of Health to keep regular contact with the Ho Chi Minh city Center for Disease Control to strictly follow individuals related to the new cases of COVID-19; well prevent the pandemic at public places; and implement preventive measures at hospitals.
According to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, the Ministry of Health commits to mobilize central staff to support Hanoi in medical check-ups and treatment, and increase the city’s capacity in treatment, inspection and tests for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, representatives from the city Department of Health said that from November 24 to December 1, Vietnam reported 35 new cases of COVID-19. In particular, after 88 days without community infections, on November 30 and December 1, the Ministry of Health announced 4 cases which were infected in the community.
There have been no new cases detected in Hanoi for several weeks, while there are currently no persons in isolation in the city. Seventeen hotels have been used as concentrated isolation locations, including 3 hotels for flight crew members. Assessing the high risk of infection from flight crew members and attendants, the city identifies this group of people as needing to be strictly isolated.
During the meeting, representatives from the city Departments of Transport, Industry and Trade, and Public Security, as well as localities, said that they would increase preventive measures in public means of transport, supermarkets and crowded places; and would enhance inspection and punishment of those who do not wear face masks at public places./.
