Vietnam steps five grades on tourism competitiveness

Vietnam ranked 75^th out of 141 countries and territories on the 2015 TTCI (Tourism and Travel Competitiveness Index) rankings, five grades higher than 2013, according to a recent report released by the World Economic Forum.

The 2015 TTCI based their results on four factors, including the environment, policy, infrastructure, natural sources and culture for the tourism sector. All are assessed on points from 1 to 7.

Vietnam gains 4.6 points on tourism environment (security, health and hygiene), 3.7 points on policy, 2.9 points on infrastructure, 3.2 points on natural sources and culture.

The TTCI measures the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable development of the Travel & Tourism (T&T) sector, which in turn, contributes to the development and competitiveness of a country.

Spain tops the 2015 TTCI global rankings for the first time, followed by France, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, Japan and Canada.

Singapore takes the lead among Southeast Asian countries on the index and stands at the 11^th position on the rankings./.
