Paragliding festival kicks off in Mu Cang Chai

A paragliding festival is taking place from May 18th to 20th on Khau Pha Mountain Pass in Mu Cang Chai district of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

The event, co-organized by Yen Bai provincial People’s Committee, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mu Cang Chai district People’s Committee and Vietwings Club, is attended by 70 domestic and foreign pilots.
The pilots are putting on 100 flights for visitors wanting to see the landscape from above at a flying altitude of 1,270 meters ASL (Above Sea Level) or 480km AGL (Above Ground Level).
Khau Pha is one of the longest mountain passes in Vietnam at more than 1,200 metres ASL. It is a very charming scenic spot which has been invested in large scale with many items such as taking off and landing places, parking area and scenic area.
Mu Cang Chai has 500 hectares of rice terraces in La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha and De Xu Phinh communes, cultivated by the H'mong people for centuries. The local terraces are among the 2,500 hectares recognised as national heritage sites in 2007 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism./.
