Number of foreigners to Ho Chi Minh city rises over 10%

The total number of tourists to Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city reached an estimated 17 million in the first half of 2019, in which foreign tourists numbered 4.2 million, a 10.1% rise from the same period last year, according to statistics of the city Department of Tourism.

In addition, the southern hub also provided services to 12.8 million domestic visitors in the 6 months, fulfilling 40% of the set target for the year.
Tourism turnover during the period was estimated to hit VND73 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%.
Aiming to attract more tourists to the city in the second half of the year, the Department of Tourism will continue boosting the plan of developing new and diversified tourism products.
The department will coordinate with Cu Chi district to develop agricultural tourism products in association with the national target program for building new-style rural areas; establish eco-tourism models in Thanh An commune, Can Gio district; finalize seven river tourism routes; and build a development strategy for MICE tourism by 2025./.
