The southern province of Tien Giang on March 12th issued document 1053/UBND-VHXH on temporarily suspending welcome of foreign tourists.

Mr. Vo Pham Tan, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that this is the local response to the complicated development of COVID-19 epidemic in many countries and territories in the world, to prevent the outbreak and spread of the epidemic for public health.
Specifically, the province temporarily stopped welcoming foreign tourists to visit the province and halted ships, boats and road transport vehicles carrying foreign tourists to the province as of 13h00 of March 12th.
Previously, the provincial Department of Health said that on March 4th, My Tho Port completed procedures for Bassac Pandaw ship and foreign passengers to Cambodia. According to the schedule, the ship stopped at Tan Phong islet in Cai Lay district and a workshop producing green rice cake in Cai Be district.
On March 10th, My Tho Port received information from the captain of Bassac Pandaw ship of a British tourist testing positive with COVID-19 and being treated in Cambodia’s Phnom Penh.
Immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities made a list of people who had contact with the tourist delegation including the COVID-19 patient and conducted isolation. At the same time, the authorities also sprayed Cloramin B disinfectant in the green rice cake production workshop in an area of 5,500m2./.
