The Vietnam XC Open-Putaleng 2022, the first national cross country paragliding competition, opened at Si Thau Chai village, Ho Thau commune, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province, on November 17.

The 100 pilots, including national standouts such as Kim Tran, Vu Tuan Dung, Bach Le, Hai Yen, Nguyen Vu, Nguyen Dai Nghia, Vo Quoc Thang and Nguyen Cong Anh, will take part in the tournament at Tam Duong district's 3,049-metre Pu Ta Leng Mount, 20 km from Lai Chau city.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of the Lai Chau People’s Committee, emphasized that paragliding is an adventure sport, but is loved by many people because of its discovery, experience and challenges at the same time, making people’s dreams of flying in the sky come true.

With separate terrain and climate conditions, Lai Chau aims to build a national paragliding point; bring the Vietnam XC Open-Putaleng 2022 into an official tournament in the paragliding system of the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) and the Paragliding World Cup.

Hai hopes that after the tournament, each athlete and visitor will be an ambassador to help convey the message “Lai Chau is an attractive, safe, friendly and welcoming destination./.”
