Hanoi greets about 115,000 visitors in May

Due to the increasingly complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, many tourism services have been suspended, thus the number of domestic tourists to Hanoi was estimated at 115,000, a year-on-year decrease of 53.3%, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

This month, revenue from domestic tourists totalled 322 billion VND, down 60.3%.
The department reported the number of foreigners visiting Hanoi during the time was mainly experts and workers who are working in other localities in Vietnam.
Tourist areas and attractions in Hanoi suspended receiving tourists from 0:00 on May 3, 2021 due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, the majority of domestic tourists to the capital in May took trips during the April 30 and May 1 holiday.
From January to May, Hanoi greeted about 2.89 million tourists, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%; earning a revenue of 8.1 trillion VND, a year-on-year reduction on 50.7%
In May, the average occupancy rate of the hotel sector reached an estimated 26%, down 1.7% against April 2021 but up 7.1% compared to the same period last year. In the first five months, the occupancy rate was estimated at 23.6%, down 8.6%./.
