Hanoi welcomed nearly 700,000 domestic tourists and 31,448 international tourists during the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

For accommodation, 18 hotels in Hanoi provided services more than 5,600 Vietnamese and foreign delegates, referees, athletes and reporters. In addition, other accommodation facilities: 62 hotels rated 3-5 stars, high-class apartments with 7,355 rooms and nearly 500 hotels rated 1-2 stars with more than 11,000 rooms, stood ready to welcome tourists travelling to Hanoi during the event.
The Department of Tourism asked relevant agencies to roll out new tourism products at the capital city’s famous attractions such as the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian zone, Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Bat Trang pottery village.
The Department also directed units to build many unique tourism products to serve tourists such as: Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel Night Tour, Night tour to explore Hoa Lo Prison, Hanoi City Tour by double-decker bus, bicycle tour to Bat Trang ancient village and many other activities.
It also cooperated with travel businesses to build and offer 28 typical tours and programs about Hanoi and the surrounding area to introduce to international delegations, officials and athletes joining SEA Games 31.
With 40 sports, SEA Games 31 took place in Hanoi and 11 nearby localities from May 12-23. The biennial event was initially slated for late 2021 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vietnam ranked first in the medal standings with 205 gold, 125 silver and 116 bronze medals. Thailand came second with 92 golds, 103 silvers and 136 bronzes, and Indonesia finished third with 69 golds, 91 silvers and 81 bronzes./.
