Hanoi receives 1.5 million international visitors in 2022

The total number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated to reach 18.7 million in 2022, a 4.7-fold increase from the previous year, equivalent to 64.7% of the number of 2019, according to the City Department of Tourism.

In 2022, the capital set a target of greeting 9-10 million tourists, including 1.2-2 million foreigners. The whole year’s result showed Hanoi has far exceeded the set target.
The city earned more than 60 trillion VND from tourists in 2022, a 5.3-fold rise year on year and equivalent to 57.8% of the total revenue from tourists in 2019.
This year, Hanoi continues to be highly appreciated by prestigious travel websites and magazines for its tourism attractiveness. TripAdvisor has ranked Hanoi city 22nd in the list of top 25 destinations for food lovers in 2022.
The German travel website Travelbook.de rated Hanoi as one of the most favored destinations in Southeast Asia. The Google Destination Insights travel analysis tool page ranks the capital as one of the cities most searched for by international visitors. Icelandic airline (Icelandair) ranked Hanoi 9th among the world’s top 10 cities to explore culture, cuisine, and healthcare.
In particular, Hanoi is honored to be voted by the World Travel Awards (WTA) as the Worlds Leading City Break Destination in 2022.
In 2023, the city strives to welcome about 22 million tourists, an increase of 17.6% against 2022; including 3 million international visitors and 19 million domestic tourists. Total revenue from tourists is expected to reach about 77 trillion VND, up 28.2%./.
