The move is among activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (1973-2023).
During this campaign, “Nhi Thang family”, including renowned singer Dong Nhi, businessman Ong Cao Thang and their daughter Winnie, is appointed as the Japan tourism ambassador.
JNTO has built a website promoting Japanese tourism with the name "50 experiences that should be tried in Japan"; cooperates with Japanese retail brand - MUJI Vietnam to produce jute bags with special motifs jointly designed by Vietnamese and Japanese artisans.
Besides, JNTO cooperates with famous bloggers to make videos sharing Japanese travel experiences; makes minigames on social networking sites; and publishes a travel guide on exploring Japan through 50 new and attractive destinations.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Takio Yamada said he believes the campaign will contribute to boosting Vietnamese people's demand to travel to Japan, and create momentum towards the 50th anniversary next year.
From October 11, 2022, Japan officially opened to international tourists. Accordingly, Vietnamese tourists can travel to Japan by tour and can freely travel the country without having to book services through travel agencies.
Visitors entering Japan only need to complete 3 or more vaccinations or have a negative test certificate if they have not had 3 doses.
In 2019, Japan greeted 495,000 tourists from Vietnam. The number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan is assessed to grow rapidly. According to the Japan Tourism Promotion Agency in Vietnam, in the first eight months of 2022, more than 160,000 Vietnamese tourists entered Japan, making up the highest number of visitors to Japan./.
