The total number of air passengers reached about 10 million in January 2023, a year-on-year rise of 149.3%, in which international passenger arrivals were estimated at 2.4 million, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

Particularly, during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2023 (from December 15 to 26), about 45,735 flights took off or landed, carrying nearly 6.6 million passengers, including some 1.6 million international visitors.
Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of ACV’s Board of Directors, said that during the Lunar New Year, domestic airlines increased flights to meet the increasing travel needs of people, especially at major airports such as Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai.
Transport volume during the peak period of the Lunar New Year marked a strong growth compared to the same period last year and before the epidemic. Notably, from the 25th to the 29th of lunar December and the 2nd to the 5th of lunar January, the number of domestic passengers continuously increased from 35 to 60%.
At Tan Son Nhat Airport, this year’s Tet season continuously saw record numbers of passengers day by day. Nearly 145,000 passengers passed through the airport on January 26 (the 5th of Lunar New Year), 149,000 passengers on January 27 (the 6th of Tet); and 142,000 passengers on January 29 (the 8th of the Lunar New Year).
At Noi Bai Airport, the number of passengers on the 26th, 27th, and 29th of lunar December, respectively, reached 92,000, 94,000 and 88,000./.
