According to the city Department of Tourism, in the first nine months of this year, the capital greeted nearly 13.9 million tourists, a 4-fold rise year on year. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly 39.7 trillion VND, a 4.7-fold increase year on year. In which, international tourist arrivals numbered 766,400, domestic tourists are estimated at 13.1 million.
Despite positive signs, representatives of some tourism businesses said that Hanoi needs to develop more new entertainment services. Currently, visitors to Hanoi just hang around on pedestrian streets and then tour other tourist attractions in other provinces and cities.
According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the last months of the year, departments and localities will coordinate to carry out many tourism programs and events such as the Hanoi Ao Dai Festival, a contest to select tourism ambassador, and a contest composing songs for Hanoi tourism.
With its “rich” tourism resources, Hanoi plays a key role in tourism development linkages between localities in the Northern Key Economic Zone.
The department is closely cooperating with provinces and cities to form tourist routes, such as: Huong Pagoda (Hanoi) - Tam Chuc (Ha Nam) - Bai Dinh (Ninh Binh); Hanoi - Lai Chau - Ha Giang; and Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La. Key products of regional linkage will be waterway tourism, agricultural tourism and cultural heritage tourism.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism also supports the capital’s tourism businesses to survey, build and connect tourist service destinations in the city and key tourist areas to form tours and tourist linkage routes in order to promote and attract tourists to Hanoi and vice versa.
At the same time, it continues to research and develop night tourism products; coordinate with travel agencies, destinations and especially relics and heritage sites to build night tourism products, experience tourism on the basis of exploiting traditional tourism products.
It will focus on developing high-class entertainment services at attractive prices at 4-5 star hotels, with priority given to people in Hanoi./.
