Son Doong named world’s most magnificent natural cave

US website Wonderslist has recently announced its top 10 most magnificent natural caves in the world, with Son Doong Cave in the central province of Quang Binh topping the list.
Son Doong is the most magnificent cave in the world. 

Wonderslist introduced Son Doong as the largest cave in the world. It was formed on a fault of the Truong Son Mountain Range and been eroded by groundwater over millions of years, which created a giant tunnel beneath the mountain’s limestone.

Nine other magnificent natural caves which made the list are Ice Cave near Mutnovsky volcano (Russia), caves in Algarve (Portugal), Marble Caves (Chile - Argentina), Antelope Canyon (Southwestern United States), Waitomo Glowworm Cave (New Zealand), Cave of Swallows (Mexico), Sonora Caves (Texas, USA), Fingal Cave (Scotland) and Painted Cave (California, USA).

Son Doong Cave has the tallest stalagmites in the world, with giant stalactites over 80 metres in length and large pearls formed by drops of water falling from the ceiling over millions of years.

On April 30, 2013, Guinness World Organization recognized Son Doong as the largest cave in the world. From this milestone, Son Doong Cave has become a symbol and brand of Vietnam tourism. Many major TV shows and music shows in the world are performed here such as ABC's Good Morning America (2015) and  singer Alan Walker performing the song "Alone Pt II" (2019).

In recent years, the tour to explore Son Doong Cave is one of the luxury tours, but there are many domestic and foreign tourists registering. According to Oxalis Company, the tour operator to explore Son Doong, in 2023, the tour has more than 700 registered guests./.
