The statistics were combined from tourism reports of many international travel agencies. Earlier, Vietnamese people often chose destinations in China and ASEAN, but their selection gradually changed and moved to other destinations such as Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan (China).
Distant destinations like North America and Western Europe also attracted a lot of Vietnamese travelers.
Due to a large number of visitors with high affordability; many hot spots, especially those close to the Republic of Korea, Japan and Taiwan (China) offered incentives and specific products for the Vietnamese market.
For example, for Korean tourism, Vietnam becomes a key market because of the highest growth among markets sending tourists to the country. From 2016 to 2019, the market enjoyed 30-40% growth a year, and it greeted about 450,000 Vietnamese travelers last year.
For Japan, the market welcomed 389,000 Vietnamese tourists, a year-on-year rise of 26%.
VISTA President Vu The Binh said foreign strong development of outbound tourism attracted participation of many companies. Vietnam now has more than 2,000 international travel companies with 70% of them operating in outbound tourism.
Together with management policies such as requirements of international travel business licenses, it is necessary to have an organization to manage and monitor the business type and increase popularization to help Vietnamese travelers behave well when they travel abroad in order to protect the interest of businesses, customer and preserve the image of the country./.
